Earlier today, I felt very proud to hear the exciting news from two good friends.

Dr.
Aydogan Ozcan, Professor of Electrical Engineering at UCLA's Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science and a member of the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI), won the prestigious
Okawa Research Foundation award with his study on cell phone mountable medical diagnosis microfluidic device that doesn't require lenses for imaging. This will save lives and open up new ways to cope with spreadable diseases.

Dr.
Mert Atilhan, Professor of Chemical Engineering at Qatar University, won the
2008 Research Award of QU. This award signifies how his talent is recognized by his peers and the only national university of Qatar. I'm proud of him and wish that he receives this award in the coming years as well.
